Frequently Asked Questions
What is Reiki and how does it work?
Reiki is completed through non-invasive touch by sending healing energy to a person's body with the intention of unblocking chakras and releasing stagnant energy.
How will I feel during the Reiki session?
During a reiki session, some have recalled feeling deeply relaxed, tingling, floating and warm or cold sensations. Because reiki releases stagnant energies, it is not uncommon to feel an emotional release during a session or hours to days later. We can discuss what this may look like for you.
Can Reiki hurt me?
No. Reiki is a non-invasive healing modality that is only used for the highest good.
Do I need to do anything to prepare for my Reiki session?
If you have jewelry such as bracelets, watches or dangling earrings, they can be removed prior to your session so that they do not coincide with moving energies. Other than that, just breathe and relax.
How does Thai Massage differ from traditional western massage?
The foundation of Thai massage is the movement of energy. Often referred to as "the lazy man's yoga", Thai massage is more intentional than any of the typical forms of massage. During your session, your therapist moves you through a series of yoga-like stretches using their hands, knees, legs, and feet. A combination of muscle compressions, joint mobilization techniques, and acupressure is also used during treatment.
What are the benefits of Thai Massage?
-
Restores balance between areas of excess and restraint
-
Reduces stress
-
Increases range of motion throughout entire body
-
Improves blood circulation
-
Centers the mind, body and spirit
-
Increases overall flexibility
-
Boosts energy
Will I experience any muscle pain or discomfort after the massage?
Overall, the body should feel light, stretched and loose. If your body feels tight prior to the massage, it is normal to feel these things a bit more intensely as they will pass within a few days.
**Thai Yoga Massage is a fully clothed and barefoot massage. Please ensure that your body is free of jewelry, oils and lotions. Men are also required to wear proper undergarments to ensure maximum comfortability throughout the duration of the session.**
Please let your therapist know before your massage if you have any of the following considerations:
-
Infectious skin disease, rash, or open wounds.
-
Recent surgeries
-
Predisposition to blood clots. There is a risk of blood clots being dislodged.
-
If you have heart disease ( please check with your doctor before having any massage)
-
Massage should not be done directly over bruises, inflamed skin, unhealed wounds, tumors, abdominal hernia, or areas of recent fractures.
What should I expect during my pole sessions?
Private lessons are taught based on the level you are when you come to class. Each session will be tailored to your experience and personal growth.
During your private pole session, you'll be guided through a warm up and stretch in the comfort of a home studio. Mirrors are intentionally placed throughout the space so that you're able to fully see and live in your movement. We'll concentrate on conditioning, hand placements, connecting movements to music and feeling comfortable and confident on the pole!
What should I wear for my pole session?
Generally, you should wear what you'll feel most comfortable moving and dancing in. It does help to have your legs and arms exposed as you'll be using them to grip the pole.
